A SPEECH PRESENTED BY MOSES ESSIEN, FORMER COMMISSIONER FOR EDUCATION, YOUTHS & SPORTS, AKWA IBOM STATE ON THE OCCASION OF THE BREAKFAST MEETING ORGANIZED FOR HIS LORDSHIPS / HEADS OF CHURCHES IN AKWA IBOM STATE TODAY JULY 20, 2006 AT DE-CASTLE LUXURY HOME, UYO.

Good morning your Lordships. It is with gratitude and honour to
GOD, that I consider my humble self very privileged to stand before
you this morning. It is an honour to GOD that you have come out
of your various homes and locations to attend this breakfast meeting
today. I pray that as you have honoured GOD, HE will also continue
to honour you in JESUS name.
I have been led by the Spirit of GOD to most respectfully invite
all of you, your Lordships to this breakfast meeting, first in
your capacities as GOD'S representatives, secondly, because you
constitute that special category of leaders who out of necessity
have chosen to labour and travail in silence for the peace and
prosperity of our land and thirdly because you are the Spiritual
Landlords of Akwa Ibom State.
I have often said wherever issues of related significance such
as this arise, that the office of the Bishop, Prophet, Pastor,
Apostle, Reverend, Evangelist, Deacon and Teachers of the gospel
of our LORD JESUS CHRIST constitute the highest offices on the
planet.
It is in recognition of this sacred and exalted position which
you are privileged to occupy, before GOD and man that your Lordships
have become the first category of leaders and human group that
I have identified to meet with on the issues of life before us
today.
I discovered that there are three (3) important institutions through
which GOD rules in the affairs of men. The first is the family,
spearheaded by the union of man and wife, the second is the church,
spearheaded by the union of JESUS CHRIST and his followers (we
in this case) and thirdly the State, spearheaded by the union
of Government and the citizenry.
Your Lordships will agree with me that today the institution of
the family and the institution of the Government have come under
severe attack of the devil and its agents of darkness and at the
receiving end of all these attacks is the CHURCH, where both the
family and the Government have continued to run to for divine
intervention.
Interrelated as these three institutions may appear to be, your
Lordships will permit me for the purpose of this meeting to restrict
my focus to the institution of the church represented by your
Lordships and the State represented by the Government.
The issues of life that is before all of us today, is with particular
reference to the prayers of the church, for divine intervention
in the Government of Akwa Ibom State, specifically as it relates
to the year 2007 elections, which is not very far away from now.
Your Lordships will recall that you individually received and
obeyed the call of GOD upon your lives and are serving the LORD
on the pulpit today either because your Lordships heard the LORD
speak expressly to you individually or were moved by conviction
into the Ministry. It could even have been that your Lordships
received the call of GOD for the Ministry through the revelation
of GOD or a combination of all these divine leadings.
Similarly, I am standing before your Lordships, as fathers and
leaders who you all are, to say with all amount of humility that
I have received the call of GOD to serve in the Government of
Akwa Ibom State.
Consequently, I have the singular honour and privilege to notify
your Lordships of my aspiration to contest for the Office of the
Governor of Akwa Ibom State come 2007. I have no doubt in my mind
about winning the 2007 Governorship election by the special grace
of GOD Almighty coupled with your support and prayers so that
GOD will be glorified in the land.
Having made this declaration before GOD and your Lordships, I
want to say without fear of contradiction that the church of the
Living GOD is taking over the affairs of the Akwa Ibom State Government,
come 2007. And the responsibility to fulfill the divine purpose
and plan of GOD for the liberation of the land rests squarely
on the shoulders of your Lordships with my humble self as your
representative. We cannot afford to shy away from what GOD expects
of us in the land, more so because we prayed for it.
I have a comprehensive plan of action as contained in my political
blueprint for Akwa Ibom State. This may not be the forum to lay
them out, but suffice it to highlight a few such as; free, qualitative
and compulsory education, guaranteed food security, adequate housing
facilities, multiple industrial establishments, multi-city development
programme, guaranteed energy supply and all other programmes already
initiated by the present government of Arc. (Obong) Victor Attah
to mention but a few.
With this understanding, your Lordships, I have no option at this
juncture but to ask for something that is in your powers to give
as GOD's representatives in the land.
The Bible tells me that he who honours GOD, him will GOD honour
and he who despises GOD him also will GOD despise. Because this
meeting was called first in honour to GOD and also to you as His
representatives and because when you received the call of GOD
upon your individual lives you were prayed for by those superior
to you at the time, I am in submission asking your Lordships as
Spiritual fathers of the land to kindly offer prayers onto GOD
in appreciation of what GOD has begun to do in the church in Akwa
Ibom State, that will surely come to fruition in the year 2007,
using me as the instrument for Akwa Ibom State leadership and
your Lordships as guides to the glory of GOD.
